- Contemporary Trends in Asia: Decentralisation, Gender and Sexuality, and Popular Culture
The aim of this symposium is to look in a new way at the contemporary issues affecting Asia and its peoples. Rapid and ongoing political, economic and social change in the Asian region shapes interactions between and within states, and influences the dynamics of the everyday life.
- Public Dialogue Report “Indonesian Female Representation after the Judicial Review of General Election Law No. 10/2008”, Jakarta, January 21, 2008
From this event it is expected that the participants may find methods and loopholes to prop up support for female candidates for the parliament after the judicial review was issued. The application of vote majority rule which is in accordance with democratic values, should take into consideration the needs and interests of women as the group marginalized by this regulation. Taking this into account, it is worthwhile to reconsider to resolve the problem of female representation after the judicial review sanctioning the vote majority was issued.
- Advocacy Workshop Module Development to Accelerate Reduction of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Mortality, November 1–November 30, 2007
Based on the agreement between Health Support Project (HSP) and Women Research Institute (WRI) during the project period until end of December 2007, the two institutions will organized 14 workshops in districts namely: (1) Serang; (2) Tangerang; (3) Malang; (4) Jember; (5) Aceh Barat; (6) Aceh Besar; (7) Banda Aceh; (8) Deli Serdang; (9) Medan; (10) Sumedang; (11) Kota Bandung; (12) Bogor; (13) Aceh Jaya and (14) Kediri. HSP and WRI had conducted all the 14 workshops during April to end of August 2007.
- The 6th Leadership Course on Gender, Sexuality and Health in Southeast Asia and China, Thailand, August 27-September 15, 2007
To increase the knowledge about Women’s Human Rights in international level and national level by participating in the 6th Leadership Course on Gender, Sexuality and Health in Southeast Asia and China.
- Advocacy Workshop Module Development to Accelerate Reduction of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Mortality, July 13-August 31, 2007
The implementation of those workshops will be organized by PCs of HSP who responsible in the 15 districts. Therefore, the reports of the implementation will be the responsibility of the PCs. Whereas, WRI will report on the facilitation processes and analysis on needs to be improved for the next workshops.
- Advocacy Workshop Module Development to Accelerate Reduction of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Mortality, September 1–October 31, 2007
One of the strategies is to conduct advocacy at the national, provincial, and district levels, as well as ensure that there will be sufficient resources allocated to reduce MNC mortality. Along with decentralization regulations, this program emphasizes advocacy work at district levels by strengthening District Health Office capacities in advocacy.

- The 9th Annual International Women’s Human Rights (IWHR), Philippines, May 6–29, 2007
WRI has increased the capacity in Women Human Rights by participating in the 9th Annual International Women’s Human Rights (IWHR) Conference. WRI can also get the sencitiveness in analyzing the condition and position of women in Human Rights perspective by using CEDAW and another. Besides, WRI gets more knowledges and experiences from Philippinos and another country in Migration issues by participating in the Workshop at the Summer Institute on Migration (SIM).

To do international lobby for bringing out the importance of ratification of gender-related international conventions such as Convention on the Elimination of Forced Labors and Convention on the Protection of Migrant Workers and Their Families.
- Strategy for Women Representation in Social Reconstruction of Aceh, February 24-25, 2005
Acehnese women in particular and Acehnese in general, have been suffering from long standing conflict and from poverty. Referring to Human Development Index (HDI) collaboratively published by Center of Statistical Bureau or Biro Pusat Statistik (BPS), National Development Planning Body or Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional (Bappenas), and UNDP, 4 out of 14 districts/municipalities registered in Aceh have very low Index, that is below 300.
- Final Report on Need Assessment of Capacity Building on Women's Leadership and Peace Building Program, 2005
UNDP conducted a gender need assessment in Maluku, North Maluku, and Central Sulawesi in 2004 and published the results in 2005. The recommendations from this assessment strongly indicate the need of capacity building activities for women in those post-conflict areas.
