Promoting women leadership and inclusive,
gender-based, and sustainable natural resource governance

Since 1995, the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) has held consultations with the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women (SRVAW). Such consultations have contributed to the integrating process of gender issues and women’s rights into the mechanism of Special Procedures that critically discusses forms of structural discrimination and violence against women.

On 24-27 February 2014, three WRI researches had the opportunity to participate in a capacity building program on communication strategy in Yogyakarta. This workshop was held by the Policy Research Network (PRN) under the theme “Communication Strategy and Advocacy.”

The High Level Panel of Eminent Persons (HLPEP) as part of the series to formulate the framework for Post-2015 Development Agenda in Bali became the last hope for every stakeholder. The focus of this regional consultation meeting in Bali puts forward the regional point-of-view on national capacity and global partnership in facing the Post-MDGs Development Agenda. The Indonesian CSO Coalition and Asia Working Group for Post-2015 Development Agenda as the organizers reported that 150 CSO representatives were present in this forum. The Women Research Institute was represented by one of its researchers, Frisca Anindhita. This meeting was part of the parallel process of the 4th High Level Panel of Eminent Person on Post 2015 Development Agenda (HLPEP) meeting in Bali, on 25-27 March 2013.

On 27 February to 10 March 2006 Women Research Institute (WRI) had an opportunity to attend the United Nations Fiftieth Session of Commission on the Status of Women in UN Headquarter, New York, USA. WRI was one of the members of official delegation of the Republic of Indonesia along with other Indonesian NGOs. Sita Aripurnami and Edriana Noerdin as the representations from WRI participated in one of the sessions.

 

In relation to the development of the curricula and training plan, Health Services Program (HSP) and Women Research Institute (WRI) during the next six-month period will organized 14 workshops in districts namely: 1) Serang; 2) Tangerang; 3) Jakarta Barat; 4) Jember; 5) Malang; 6) Aceh Barat; 7) Aceh Besar; 8) Banda Aceh; 9) Deli Serdang; 10) Medan; 11) Sumedang; 12) Kota Bandung; 13) Bogor; 14) Aceh Jaya and 15) Kediri. HSP and WRI had conducted several workshops on June 2007. This report attempts to picture on the implementation of two workshops that already took place in Serang, June 12 - 14, 2007 and Jember, June 19 - 21, 2007.
